A$AP Rocky is adding another major fashion win to his résumé, and the culture is here for it. The Harlem-born tastemaker has officially been named an ambassador for Chanel, marking one of the brand’s most high-profile appointments yet, Complex reports. Chanel announced the news on November 29th, saying Rocky’s “talent, curiosity, and limitless creativity” make him a perfect fit for the house.

Matthieu Blazy, the brand’s artistic director, couldn’t stop praising Rocky’s impact and energy. “Rocky is an incredible artist who puts his heart and soul into every project he’s involved in, in addition to being an incredible human being,” said Blazy. “Musician, actor, father, friend…he brings so much to the table and always delivers with kindness. We are thrilled to welcome him to Chanel and I’m thrilled to work together again.”

Rocky returned the love, showing major respect for Blazy’s vision and leadership. “Matthieu’s imagination is pushing fashion forward. His designs feel both sensitive and strong, they’re grounded in reality but at the same time, always invite one to wonder,” said Rocky. “I’m so excited to see him at Chanel.”

The partnership has been unfolding behind the scenes for a minute. Last month, Rocky filmed a cinematic short for the brand in New York City alongside actress Margaret Qualley. The film, which features him giving Qualley a ring, drops December 2nd on Chanel’s website and is already set to be one of the brand’s most anticipated visuals of the year. Rocky now joins an elite list of Black celebs who have taken on the ambassador role for the iconic brand, including Lupita N’yongo, Kendrick Lamar, and actress Ayo Edebiri

But Rocky being Rocky, he’s not stopping at fashion. Fans are buzzing about his long-teased album Don’t Be Dumb. During his Camp Flog Gnaw set earlier this month, the rapper hit the stage in a hoodie with “Jan. 16” stamped on the sleeve, sparking speculation that the release date is finally near. Of course, in true Rocky fashion, he also played into the mystery during a moment with Maurice Kamara’s The People Gallery, joking that the album is “never dropping.” After laughing, he added, “They gon’ kill for that one.”

Between new music whispers, film projects, and now an official Chanel ambassadorship, Rocky continues to move like an artist fully tapped into his own lane. For those who’ve watched him shape streetwear, luxury, art, and sound since his come-up, know this is just another chapter in a career defined by reinvention and influence. And if history is any indication, whatever he drops next won’t just be fashion. It’ll be a moment.
