Quinta Brunson is pouring back into her hometown in the most beautiful way. The “Abbott Elementary” creator and star has launched the Quinta Brunson Field Trip Fund, partnering with the School District of Philadelphia to make sure more than 117,000 public school students can explore the city’s museums, cultural hubs, and historic landmarks at no cost, WHYY reports.

The fund, which debuted on Giving Tuesday, was created to open doors for students in underserved communities by fully covering field trip expenses. For Brunson, a proud Philadelphia native, school trips were more than a break from the classroom. They were life-changing.

“They opened my world, sparked my creativity, and helped me imagine a future beyond what I saw every day,” Brunson said. “Going somewhere new shows you that the world is bigger and more exciting than you believe, and it can shape what you come to see as achievable.”

The goal is simple but powerful. Remove the financial barriers that keep students from the kind of experiences that help shape imagination, ambition, and identity. Brunson wants every kid in Philly to feel seen, inspired, and reminded that possibility is real. “I’m proud to support Philadelphia students with experiences that remind them their dreams are valid and their futures are bright,” Brunson said.

Dr. Tony Watlington Sr., Superintendent of the Philadelphia School District, said Brunson’s fund will help eliminate barriers and ensure that all students, regardless of resources, will receive equal opportunity in Philly. This latest initiative continues Brunson’s ongoing commitment to her community. Earlier this year, she received a key to the city at Andrew Hamilton School, the same West Philly school she once walked through as a student and that helped inspire her Emmy Award-winning series. She also personally donated $25,000 to the district’s Groceries for Good program, supporting students facing food insecurity.

Her impact reaches beyond TV screens and red carpets. Research from the National Education Association shows that students who participate in school trips tend to have stronger grades, higher graduation rates, and higher earnings later in life. Brunson is helping Philadelphia’s youth tap into that pipeline of possibility, ensuring they can dream bigger than their zip code and see themselves in every museum, every exhibit, and every story this city holds.

Quinta Brunson is giving the next generation the world, and they are already better for it.
