DC still hasn’t gotten over losing Vapiano, and the pasta-shaped void in our hearts remains real. Now former Washington tight end Vernon Davis is bringing his own fast-casual pasta concept to Navy Yard—and it might just be what the neighborhood needs. Set to open February 15th at 1231 First St. SE near Nats Park, Half Street is marking its first location actually within DC limits, bringing fresh pasta and a whole new vibe to the area.

The 2,200-square-foot space is a major upgrade from the original 700-square-foot Ballston Quarter spot, featuring interior seating for 70 plus an additional 50 seats outside. Davis and his investors dropped between $400,000 and $500,000 to retrofit the space, but here’s where it gets interesting: while Half Street started as a fast-casual pasta concept, the Navy Yard location is evolving into more of a bar with premium food options. “We’re thinking of it as a bar, but you come in and you have all these delicious options that you can choose from,” Davis told the Washington Business Journal.
