Black Female DJs in the DMV Are Elevating the Game

At MVEMNT, inclusion is not something we talk about. It is something we do. From the events we produce to the talent we platform, we have always made it a priority to put Black women behind the decks. In a DJ industry that has long been dominated by men, we take pride in intentionally creating space for Black female DJs, because the talent has always been there. It just needed the spotlight.

The DMV has no shortage of Black women who can rock a crowd. Whether it is an R&B night, a Caribbean set, a rooftop day party, or a full festival stage, Black female DJs across DC, Maryland, and Virginia are showing up and showing out. They are not just filling a slot on the lineup. They are the reason people come back.

We first put the DMV’s Black female DJ scene on notice back in 2022, and the movement has only grown since then. New names have emerged, residencies have been locked in, and the culture has continued to shift. So we are back with a fresh list of women who deserve their flowers right now.

This Women’s History Month, MVEMNT wants to recognize 20 Black female DJs from the DMV who are elevating the game, breaking barriers, and proving that the booth has always belonged to them too.

And because we see you Baltimore, we are throwing in a Bonus 5 Black female DJs from Charm City who are holding it down and demand their recognition as well.

When you see any of these women on a flyer, you already know the vibe is going to be right.
