Thinking of Getting a BBL? Here’s What You Should Know

Cosmetic surgeries and procedures have become more advanced and increasingly popular over the years. There are Vampire facials, breast augmentations, and tummy tucks, to name a few. But there’s one type of surgery that’s taken the world by storm, and that’s the Brazilian Butt Lift or BBL.

This popular butt enhancement surgery involves a transfer of fat to help to create a fuller and bigger backside. Now, before you go off and have major surgery just because it’s all the rave right now, do your research. It’s always best to consult with a surgeon to get all your questions answered, but here are a few things we think you should know about BBLs before you do:

1. BBL is a two-part procedure.

Remember, BBLs involve a fat transfer to achieve the final look, so the procedure will be a two-step process. First, a surgeon will perform liposuction in common areas like the back or stomach. Then, after the removed fat cells are cleaned, they are inserted into the butt to create the full effect.

2. All body types could benefit from a BBL.

Everyone has stubborn fat that can be removed for a BBL. If you’re on the thinner side, your surgeon can remove fat from your thighs and arms rather than your stomach. So, it doesn’t matter your body type, because a trained surgeon can create a unique procedure plan just for you.

3. Results don’t happen overnight.

Patients should expect swelling following the procedure, so keep in mind that you won’t see your correct results right away. But once you’ve allowed the swelling to go done, you can finally enjoy your new look.

4. BBLs are safe, but there are risks.

Like all major procedures, there will be risks involved if you choose to get a BBL. Common side effects are bruising, pain, swelling, asymmetry, and infection. However, working with a trusted and experienced surgeon can help minimize these risks.
Remember, always consult with a doctor if you’re thinking about cosmetic surgery to set yourself up for a safe procedure and a speedy recovery!
